Interested in abstraction, my work is a conjunction of the logical and the sensitive. I move between these two poles, using systems and geometry as base for the work, and envolve myself in process of experimentation and perception. I build my artistic language using different techniques, mainly painting, questioning what is given to me as facts, revisiting conventions and trying to give visibility to different subjects such as multiple dimensions, frequencies and time. I've been using repetition to suggest depth and movement in the works, with layers and multiple overlays. I also use repetition as a measure, as a marker of the time of the experiment. I look for a visual space that allows different paths and interpretations, trying to retain the time from the process and from the observer. Recently, the rules and systems have become less noticeable, I have been changing what was established in my work, opening up to new developments.

Karen Axelrud was born in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, in 1965. Post graduated in arts - Painting, Drawing and Installation by Feevale University, Sinos Valley, Novo Hamburgo, 2012.
